Family: McDermott and his partner, Michael, live in West
Seattle.
Education: Master of Public Administration from the University
of Washington and Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from
Gonzaga University.
Employment: Senior Budget Analyst with the Seattle School
District for four years; staff member for Pierce County Prosecuting
Attorney John Ladenburg for six years; has also taught at South Seattle
Community College.
Civic/Community Organizations: Serves on the board of West
Seattle Helpline and Southwest Youth & Family Services. Civic activities
and memberships include the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Vashon
Allied Arts, and the Highline Historical Society.
