Biography

As vice chair of the Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee, Sen. Claudia Kauffman is one of the Senate leaders for early learning for Washington children. She also serves on the Senate Human Services & Corrections, Transportation and Rules committees.

Claudia was raised in the Puget Sound area and lives with her family in Kent. Married to Larry Cordier, they have a son, Joseph, and two daughters, Jessie and Zintkala. Claudia has been a foster mother to ten foster children.

A Democrat, Sen. Kauffman was elected to the Senate in 2006. She is also a member of Senate leadership, as Assistant Majority Whip.

Claudia works as the Charity Fund and Federal Relations Liaison for the Muckleshoot Tribe and is also a small business owner. She studied at the University of Idaho and Oglala Lakota College.
